The Battle of Urfa (Turkish: Urfa Savunması) was a military engagement between the Turkish National Forces and the French Third Republic.

In 1919 the city of Şanlıurfa was occupied by French forces. On February 7, 1920 Gendarme general demanded that French forces evacuate the city in 24 hours. When the French refused this ultimatum, Turkish forces attacked the city on February 9, 1920. After two months of fighting and after losing half of their forces, the French finally retreated from the city.
