Allumera

Allumera

Allumera™ is a cosmetic product intended to improve the appearance of the skin. The active ingredient is a photosensitizer that interacts with light to acheive photodynamic therapy (PDT). On February 4, 2011 Photocure announced positive results from the RevitAll study for delivering significant skin appearance improvements. Photocure is conducting consumer trials at 15 clinics in the US to further investigate the effects of Allumera. Allumera was launched in the US market in June 2011.

Allumera was invented in Norway. There is evidence that photodynamic therapy is effective in skin rejuvenation. Photocure gained experience in PDT during the development of Metvix for skin cancer and Visonac for acne.
