Exerpes asper, known commonly as the Sargassum blenny in Mexico and the United Kingdom, is a species of labrisomid blenny, and the only species in the genus Exerpes. It is a tropical blenny known from the northern and central Gulf of California, in the eastern central Pacific Ocean. It was originally described by O.P. Jenkins and B.W. Evermann in 1889, as Auchenopterus asper. Blennies in this species can reach a maximum length of 6.5 centimetres, and feed primarily off of benthic invertebrates.
