Ontario Liberal Party candidates, 2011 Ontario provincial election

The Ontario Liberal Party is one of three major political parties in Ontario, Canada running in the 2011 Ontario provincial election. It has governed the province since 2003, and currently forms a majority government in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.

Lori Baldwin-Sands (Elgin—Middlesex—London)

Lori Baldwin-Sands is a second-term alderman on the St. Thomas City Council.She lives in St. Thomas with her husband Doug and three daughters.

Denis Bonin (Timiskaming—Cochrane)

Denis Bonin has been a teacher for the past 14 years, and serves as second vice-president of the Association des enseignantes et des enseignants francoontariens. He is a former municipal councillor and has worked with a number of charities and community organizations including the Children's Aid Society and West Nipissing Association of Community Living. Currently he is president of the Canadian Marfan Association. He lives with his wife Anne and four children in Sturgeon Falls.

Helen Burstyn (Beaches—East York)

Helen Burstyn is the current chair and former president of the Ontario Trillium Foundation. She has previously served as a Senior Advisor to Premier McGuinty. She is a Director and Past-President of The Canadian Club of Toronto, Co-Founder of Gilda's Club in Toronto, and a founding board member of Equal Voice. She is a Director of the Toronto International Film Festival, Luminato Festival, and the Canadian Journalism Foundation.

Kevin Eccles (Bruce—Grey—Owen Sound)

Kevin Eccles is the current mayor of West Grey township. He has also served as a councillor, deputy-mayor and Grey County warden for two years.

Bill MacDonald (Lanark—Frontenac—Lennox and Addington)

Bill McDonald is the owner and operator of a logging and forest management business, and formerly served as the Mayor of Central Frontenac. Previously serving as a warden, chair of the Library Board, and a member of the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority.

Mike MacDonald (Stormont—Dundas—South Glengarry)

Kathryn McGarry (Cambridge)

Kathryn McGarry is a critical care nurse and a and a local community advocate. McGarry was the party's candidate in the 2007 election. Finishing second with 34% to incumbent MPP Gerry Martiniuk.

Indira Naidoo-Harris (Halton)

Naidoo-Harris is a former television broadcast journalist for CBC, CTV and OMNI Television, and is currently the communications director for the Ontario Minister of Citizenship & Immigration. Naidoo-Harris was born in South Africa and immigrated to Canada with her parents in 1967. She lives in Milton with her husband and two children.

Tony Ryma (Nickel Belt)

Tony Ryma is a television anchor for CTV News in Greater Sudbury and Northern Ontario. Previously, Ryma served as city councillor in Sault Ste. Marie while he worked for CTV in Sault Ste. Marie. Ryma currently lives Sudbury with his wife and son.

Karmel Sakran (Burlington)

Karmel Sakran is a founding member of the Carpenter Hospice and currently serves on the board of the Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital. He chaired the Burlington United Way campaign for 2010-2011. Sakran is a Burlington-based lawyer, where he has lives with his wife and six-year old child.

Katie Trombetta (Niagara West—Glanbrook)

Katie Trombetta served on West Lincoln council for 16 years, including 10 years as mayor of West Lincoln and a member of the Niagara Regional Council.

Catherine Whiting (Nipissing)

Soo Wong (Scarborough—Agincourt)

Soo Wong is a Registered Nurse, Professor of Nursing, and a nursing home administrator. She is a public school board trustee on the Toronto District School Board for Ward 20.
