District 1

Republican Rob Wittman has represented the 1st District since he won a special election in December 2007 to succeed the late Jo Ann Davis, who died in office.

District 2

Republican Scott Rigell has represented the 2nd District since January 2011. Paul Hirschbiel, a businessman, will seek the Democratic nomination. Democrat Glenn Nye, who represented the district from 2009 until 2011 and lost his seat to Rigell in 2010, will not run again.

Republican Randy Forbes has represented the 4th District since January 2001.

District 5

Republican Robert Hurt has represented the 5th District since January 2011. Democrat Tom Perriello, who represented the district from 2009 until 2011 and lost his seat to Hurt in 2010, said in June 2011 that he had no plans to run again.

District 6

Republican Bob Goodlatte has represented the 6th District since 1993. Karen Kwiatkowski, a retired U. S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, will challenge Goodlatte for the Republican nomination. Democrat Andy Schmookler, an author, will seek the Democratic nomination.

Republican Eric Cantor, the U.S. House Majority Leader, has represented the 7th District since 2001. Ernest Wayne Powell, a trial lawyer and former Army officer is running for the Democratic nomination to challenge Cantor.

Democrat Jim Moran has represented the 8th District since 1990 and will seek re-election. He defeated Republican Patrick Murray in the 2010 election. Murray announced in November 2011 that he would run against Moran again in the 2012 election.

Republican Morgan Griffith has represented the 9th District since January 2011 after he defeated 28-year incumbent Rick Boucher in the 2010 election.

District 10

Republican Frank Wolf has represented the 10th District since 1981. John Douglass, a retired United States Air Force Brigadier General and former Assistant Secretary of the Navy, will run for the Democratic nomination.
