Transport in Erode
Erode city being the headquarters of Erode district, in India, has an extensive transport network.
Transport
Roads
Erode city is well-connected by roads. It is located on NH544, 100 km to the East of Coimbatore and 60 km to the west of Salem, which connects Chennai-Kanchipuram-Arani-Harur-Salem-Erode-Coimbatore-Thrissur-Cochin.
The road infrastructure is being expanded with an extensive 4 carriageway expansion and the NH47 stretch is almost in its final stage of 6 laning. Erode is accessible by road from any parts of Tamil Nadu and nearby states of Kerala & Karnataka.
Erode is also connected by major highways to Mysore, Bangalore, Mettur, Karur, Palani, Dindigul and Pondichery.
Bus Station
The Central bus station in Erode is the (Erode Central Bus Terminus). A large network of interstate and intrastate buses ply frm here to various destinations. There is a good co-existence of both private and public transport networks in the city round the clock. The Erode division of the TNSTC (Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation), Coimbatore Limited, services the district's road transport needs with a string of local and mofussil (out-of-town) services. The State Express Bus Corporation (SETC) operates express services to Chennai, Coimbatore, Mysore, Cochin, Thrissur, Salem, Bangalore, Pondicherry, Nagapattinam, Vellore, Tirunelveli, and Tirupati.
One another Bus station is under construction in the city at Solar to reduce traffic in central BS and in the city. Also there is another plan to construct another Bus terminal near Chithode, off NH-47 byepass.
Railways
Erode Junction is the major Railway station in the city. It is the mainline connectivity from Chennai Central to Coimbatore and further to Kerala.
Chennai Central to Erode Junction is the first electrified Rail link. The entire length is double track system.
Also there is one other route towards Trichy Junction via Karur, where it can have splitted towards Madurai Junction via Dindigul.
Also one Rail link project is undergoing to connect Palani with Erode and one under survey for Erode-Chamarajanagar-Mysore Rail link.

Air
Erode is located in between Coimbatore Airport and Salem Airport
Also the AAI has planned to construct a new terminal at Erode, exactly in between these two Airports (85km from both).
Water
Inland water transports available to travel across Cauvery and Bhavani Rivers.
Motor boats and Ferries are available in the Ferry stations.
