Austria will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 and will select their entry through a national selection, consisting of a online selection and a televised final, organised by the Austrian broadcaster ORF.
National final
On 23 September 2011, ORF announced that their national selection will stay the same. The radio station Hitradio Ö3 will once again play an important role.
On 30 November 2011, ORF announced nine acts that qualified directly for the national final, which will take place on February 24, 2012. The line-up of ten finalists will be completed through an open call for songs. The interested artists will be able to submit their entries until the end of December, and the songs in contention will be aired from January 9 on Hitradio Ö3.

At Eurovision
Austria will perform in the first or second semi-final, held on 22 or 24 May respectively.
